A Celebration of Fabric and Ornament

The LakeSide Studio as it called lovingly named Tharangini, tucked away in a green oasis in the heart of Bangalore city is a centre for the human exploration of creativity. If not for  an invite for the exhibition of Fabric and Ornaments I would never have known them.Rediscover the rich heritage by learning all traditional folk arts. They have artists teachers who are skilled master craftsmen .Find inspiration by the lake and our wise old trees as you begin to discover balance and harmony through art

Tharangini has a  Jewelry project design studio that celebrates the culture and tradition of ornament and a Textile Arts Center that custom new stories in fabric using age-old techniques of handblock printing, shibori, batik, pattern dyeing and the like to create one-of-a-kind fabrics and saris, made specially on order

Jewellery craftsmen have inherited skill sets through years of patience and practice and our designers bring in a current perspective.Made in natural materials of gold and silver with natural precious coloured gemstones, they are conscious of this planet and recycle metal and revive old metal techniques.Frejya Laxmi is our commisioned or bespoke line that is craft intensive encomapassing all aspects of jewelry in relation to life.

Textile Master crafstmen bring decades of experience to a customized design process, deriving from a play of colour and imagination!Being one of the city's oldest block printing studio, we continue to build interesting bridges between the old and the new.

Inaddition to this they have Dasara melas,Shibori workshops ,blockprinting workshops, workshops for children where they are introduced to the traditional art forms, mask making, festive story telling and sessions in charcoal drawing and photography too.
