Drenched in Nostalgia..these Indian Homes

The 12th Anniversary issue of Elle Decor was brimming with  ideas,design and colours. There were three homes featured from each corner of India,but I felt there was something very earthy,very natural that binded the three homes in an issue.

Teaming a medley of  opposites,the Shades of India duo play with a profusion of ideas in their penthouse.Juxtaposing textures and shades and a blend of old with new is apparent in every area.Contemporary Indian and European  paintings are places alongside quirky objects such as kitsch venetian style mirrors or large earthenware pots in which we like to put fresh bamboo cuttings or dries sprays of foliage.

The Home in Khotachiwadi is an yesteryear Nostalgia.An ode to the bygone eras of Bombay -time stands still at fashion designer James Ferreiras two storeyed residence within the heritage village of Khotachi wadi

 Relaxing Susegad style  is the order of the day at Kavita Dutta's clean and simple "Portuguese Casa",where the interiors co- exist in perfect harmony with their surroundings.

Benares

The  silence of the Himalayas resonating and yet it almost seems like we are getting ready for the hustle and bustle of the holy city of Benares ,the city of light Kashi..It seems like the time has come,to realize that the dream is going to get fulfilled.

   The fascination for Benares in me  leads me to this fascinating store named "Benares" based in Singapore. As reported by "Jakarta Globe" "India evokes enchanting and exotic images of bustling bazaars, Hindu temples and colorful saris. This fascination has been translated into a new brand called Benares, which offers a wide range of contemporary lifestyle products, from cushions and lanterns to dresses and jewelry. 

Baring India’s artistic soul, Benares — named after one the most holy cities for Hindus and Jains in India — is the brainchild of two Indian, Singapore-based sisters, Pooja Kapur and Shabri Malik. Together with Rob Sherlock, the “creative brain” of Benares, they recently opened their first store at ION Orchard in the heart of the Lion City".

Their products are rich,varied in colours and lovingly created by hand.

Tia Pakhi

Kantha Embroidery and beautiful colours,that is what got interested  me in Tia Pakhi.I love these little stitches called Kantha. Kantha stitiches where there from time immemorial,nowadays designers and craftpersons reinvent new designs with age old craft forms.

It was to my surprise that they had one of their exhibtions in New Delhi,in one of the beautiful villages in one of the beautiful surroundings of Rose,Hauzkhas. The exhibition seemed quite natural.By the time I reached it was the last day of the exhibition and it was late evening .So photographing the beauties in daylight seemed quite difficult for me so that I had to shoot in the dark.Tia Pakhi has also some brilliantly Indianised shoot for their products.

Tia pakhi cushions made my spring brighter and wonderful.see them in the last post.

                  As the sun sets and its time for my images which i took in the low light..The lamps kept just blew my mind.lamps glowing and the reflections made the ambience richer and brighter.I was fortunate to have been there at that time.

its all together

all in one frame

greens and whites

the old day bed is beautiful,its old and its been given a new life at home

my mornings are like this..flowers,books and the magical light

  

flowers are there in every corner of our home..the fragrance at home ..
