Giveaways and Raindrops-What a Way to Celebrate the Monsoons!!!

My Dear Readers,

It has been an incredible journey on my blog till date and thanks to all those words of encouragement and compliments which made me travel till here. Soon you will be seeing a lot of changes on this blog including collaborations with other artists.

Karthik Vaidyanathan, the brain behind Varnam has been instrumental in reviving the traditional craft form of south India. His constant endeavor has enhanced the sense of pride among these master crafts-people for their art. All proceeds from sale of Varnam products are routed back to designing and funding more products from these artisans. Varnam has recently launched its new collection "Inbam" for women and what an occasion other than the Independence Day to celebrate the new liberated Indian women.

I am really excited to share that I will be doing my first give away ever from Varnam. I have painstakingly chosen three poetic pieces of adornment from this collection. !!! This blog has grown quite a bit over the time, and this give away is just a way of me thanking you all.

  4. Hello madam,
I am a follower of your blog.I recently made a decision to keep away from social networking sites, although I know I am missing out on quite a lot.And when I was on FB,I was an ardent follower of this blog and I even asked you to turn on the follow me option(if you remember) so that I could get updates whenever you decide to blow off our minds with your phenomenal photography :)So I am trying my luck anyway.

I love traditional pieces of jewellery and more so,I am a huge admirer of Varnam. The place channapatna where this craft was born is just about 60km from my city(Bangalore).I have played with toys from there and as you would expect,I was happily sold over by Mr.Karthik Vaidyanathan's brainchild. It's the wonderful colours, the hands that have lovingly tended to them,it's association with channapatna and coming from this blog-how could I ask for more?!

    Love,
    Vidya.

  9. Hi Lakshmi, goes without saying I follow you and your blog/pics just about everywhere so I should be the undisputed winner here ;) Just kidding !
I love the traditional art and craft form no matter which state they belong to. It's a dying art thesedays and anybody who takes the initiative to keep it going and to keep it alive has to be praised . The traditional pieces keep me bonded with my motherland and the many art forms that India has created through these talented artisans who work so hard on this, that's why I love owning traditional pieces and am always on the lookout for them .

  11. Hi Lakshmi,
Have been visiting your blog for ages, but haven't commented yet. It took the lure of Chennapatnam earrings to get me to do that! Seriously, though, am really impressed by your house and your eye for beauty. I was inspired by the lotus wall you painted (in a much-earlier post)and attempted the same design as a piece of art. It didn't turn out quite as well, but was very satisfying nonetheless.
Back to the earrings. I love traditional Indian crafts, South Indian crafts in particular, have been reading about Kartik Vaidyanathan, his lovely house and now his entrepreneurial foray for a few years now. All of which makes me a deserving candidate! Oh, and red (all shades, especially the colour of sindoor and kumkumam) and mango yellow are my favourite colours (along with pink, mehendi green...). Need I say more?
    :)

Varnam's creations are a delight to have. Being from Karnataka myself, this art of Chennapatna and the wonderful work Varnam is doing to promote and encourage these artisans is wonderful. Love your selection and now fingers crossed :)

  14. Lovely giveaway, Lakshmi. I am a follower of your blog, and I have shared this on fb! I am a huge fan of Channapatna stuff. Growing up, traveling between Mangalore and Bangalore, we always stopped at this stall on the highway to pick up channapatna toys etc...there wasn't any jewelry then, so this is my chance to get it!:)

  15. I have been following your lovely blog for quite sometime. I think you have a rare knack for photography; I absolutely touch the aura of splendor your photographs bring out of seemingly mundane pedestrian sights and objects. As an avid reader of your blog, I find all your posts interesting to read, and this one is especially palatable to the eye because of the feast of color the jewelry collection portrays. The pieces are truly Indian in the sense they evoke the bright spirit of India and its eclectic range of myriad hues all concocting to form one bright tint that is the color our of myriad-hued country laden with culture and amazing gift of tradition. I would like to own a piece of the beautiful accessory because i am sure they will add a very Indian touch to my regular get-up!

  16. Hi lakshmi!
I have been following your blog and Facebook page for a long long time now. I am huge admirer of your photography and sure enough i am one in the many to compliment you on that.

I entered this give away for two reasons: i like Varnam for their effort to revive the Indian traditions through creative work and keeping in mind the modern tastes and usability in mind while creating products.

Of course while i will have to wait for my next visit; this way i might get my Varnam (colors) sooner:) and possibly i can celebrate Boston summer with one!
