Kunal Shah Designs

There's an  amazing array of talents in India and Kunal Shah is one among them and one of my favourites. It's his understated elegance and love for the simplicity yet making a traditional touch ,love for flowers that instantly drew me towards following his works.

I also love the fact that my inspirations remain his too:)-He is inspired by the works of Geoffrey Bawa ,John Pawson, Gaudi and Bijoy Jain.

All thanks to my dear friend Shalini Pereira. Its through her i read more about him and became virtual friends. They both are good friends and fellow IED alumnis.Kunal Sha founded Kunal Shah designs in 2004.This boutique design firm believes in a restrained and understated design aesthetic that focuses on subtle nuances and finer details. I love the clean lines and almost minimalist feel to the spaces he creates. They are very contemporary and yet unmistakably Indian.

Kunal travels a lot and often draws inspiration from his travels and his other passion, art.

Seen below are some awesome vignettes of his amazing home on instagram. The amazing pick of carefully selected furniture, art and the cool neutral palettes. His aesthetically simple minimalistic approach. Amazingly homely, but an old world charm. An amazing appreciation and love towards the different forms of art and craft.

His home has a mixture of sculptures and books and flowers thrown here and there creating its own warmth.in love with all these..
Thank you kunal for allowing me to share all these images.
May you create more beautiful homes:)- and amazing spaces!

ReImagine

ReImagine:Art,Fun and Creativity

Its a pleasure meeting creative people and I am so happy that I discovered Reimagine and the creative team behind.

‘ReImagine’ is an upcycling project that Lynessa has started along with a friend, Kushy Kuttappa. Though both their educational backgrounds and professional work are in psychology, their interest in art brought them together at an art course last year. They decided they wanted to start a fun project together.

‘ReImagine’ was thus born as an avenue to explore and express their interest in art and creativity. As they pondered on what they wanted to create, 3 empty wine bottles that were  be discarded stared longingly at them ... and in their beauty, fragility and translucence, they found a medium that has given them much joy and adventure. They say these bottles are reminders that beauty can be created from anything.

Few points on ‘ReImagine’

•Focus is on making upcycled objects that are aesthetic, functional and affordable - to promote the idea of beauty in ‘Green Living’.

•Currently they make products from used glass bottles but  plan to extend to other materials as well. The bottles and jars used are donated by friends or sourced from restaurants.

•Aesthetics: They spend a lot of time on design. One of their goals is to challenge the idea that ‘recycled objects look like scrap’.

•Functionality: The products can be used and washed daily and are professionally finished.

•Affordability: Current range is priced between Rs.250 to 500, depending on the design work they have put into it. They specifically want to create products that anyone can buy.

They plan to showcase and sell our products at exhibitions. They also offer customized products for individuals.

Its amazing what these empty bottles have to tell you:Read, Enjoy and do let me know..

Beautiful Things

Home decoration is an ageless favourite. The Comforting elegance of grandeur times, helped me explore more of the traditional decor style.Illustrating the various elements of traditional design became a part of life.I prefer traditional style more at times when compared to the modern, abstract style of design.

The warmth of the traditional decor extends the warmth of the beautiful hues created by our forefathers...

Today let me share with you all some pieces of beautiful things at home, some unique pieces of art which has always remained my personal favourites.Almost all of them have been bought by my grandparents in their golden times..

Simply a photoshoot at home to keep them in memorable cuisine ,lets me think to share with you all....

I hope the photography and the artefacts may interests you..

Silverwares and a small side /coffee table which my mom got as a wedding gift..decades back....
